I started quilting in 1972 when my Mother suggested we cut up the Ball gowns she had acquired through years of attending the AkSarBen Ball in Omaha, Nebraska; and make them into something else.  I decided to make a practice quilt first.

I chose red and brown fabric that I collected for a year and made my first Log Cabin Quilt.
It was as if I were telling a story in pure color.

Triumph of the Spirit

Peace is not the opposite of War, but rather the natural condition of Truth.  In one’s life it is necessary to personally search for the light
that is always present.

Because the lure of joining the Circus has always appealed to me,

Rose Quilt with Red Tulips
_______________________
53” x 53” - June 2004
Purchased by the Museum of New Mexico

I love being around the color red, and I have made numerous
different rose quilts. I found by working in a monochromatic color palette the quilt looks different throughout the day in different lights.

As I was finding orange and yellow flowers, large circles found their way to square bases, and a garden on the moon was created.
